Lamar Jackson Receives Brutal MVP Truth as ‘Nikola Jokic Treatment’ Lingers for Ravens QB.

.

Be honest. Do y’all see Patrick Mahomes clinching the MVP Award this season.

If your answer is no, then you might want to look at how Lamar Jackson is doing.

He’s already won two MVPs without winning a Super Bowl and right now, he’s almost spearheading the league with more than 2k yards and 20 touchdowns.

Is winning a Super Bowl a deciding factor in him getting the MVP votes.

If not, what about his teammate Derrick Henry.

He’s parsecs ahead of what the other running backs are doing in the league.

Winning an MVP takes into account regular and post-season performances.

They need to be stellar. Dan Patrick and Tom Pelissero were just talking about how the MVP convo is going to unfold this year.

The journalist duo compared Jackson’s MVPs to the current state of the NBA right now.

One of those points was how NBA players like Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, and Giannis Antetokounmpo have won multiple MVPs (except Embiid) but don’t have more than one NBA Championship under their belt.

People might blackball the Joker this year. So, will Lamar Jackson be getting the same treatment this season? Dan Patrick fears so.

“I wonder if there’s going to be a bias with Lamar Jackson because he hasn’t won a Super Bowl and it feels like we sometimes base our regular season vote on or against somebody because they haven’t done well in the postseason,” the host of the Dan Patrick Show said.

Jackson won the MVPs for the 2019 and 2023 seasons.

Let’s look at his stats.

Which NFL player has won two MVP awards without winning a Super Bowl?

Patrick Mahomes.

Lamar Jackson.

Derrick Henry.

Aaron Rodgers.

Patrick then compared Jackson’s two MVPs to the NBA stalwarts and how the court of public opinion sways their chances of bagging another one.

Giannis is a 2x MVP and has won one NBA Championship.

The Joker is a 3x MVP and has one championship.

Joel Embiid on the other hand hasn’t won a championship but has one MVP award.

“We do this in the NBA; you know, Joel Embiid hadn’t won anything, but he somehow got an MVP.

Joker, they held it against him, you can’t give him another MVP.

Giannis got an MVP after he won a title there.

So, I wonder, if Lamar probably with a bias against him.

And then you got what’s happening with Derrick Henry as well.”

The point that Patrick was perhaps trying to make was, that people get bored, and they need something new every season.

So maybe this time, it’s Derrick Henry’s turn.

Is Derrick Henry in the MVP race after Lamar Jackson?

Only 8 running backs in the history of the sport have had a 2k+ yard season and King Henry is one of them.

With that being said, the former OPOY has showcased nothing but explosiveness ever since he became a part of the Baltimore Ravens.

He’s just played 9 games in the season and leads the league with 168 receptions, 1,052 yards, and 11 touchdowns.

Henry won’t slow down anytime soon.

.

So, if people tire of voting for Lamar Jackson this year, they might as well vote for Derrick Henry.

The odds are in his favor. 38 QBs have won an MVP award in the past while the running backs have 16 MVPs since the inception of the sport.

You know what’s crazy.

The Ravens lost the games where Derrick Henry didn’t have more than 100 rushing yards (except one).

His impact on the Ravens is clear as day. Will Derrick Henry be the 17?

The Ravens surprisingly lost to Jameis Winston and the Browns in the eighth game of the season.

Henry had 11 carries, 73 yards and a touchdown.

On the other hand, Jackson threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns in that game, but still lost.

Need more convincing that Henry is the panacea to most of Ravens’ problems?
