VIDEO: Texas Longhorns Players Brutally Disrespected Baker Mayfield With Classless Gesture After Huge Win Against Oklahoma.
.
The Red River Rivalry is one of the biggest matchups in college football every year.
The Texas and Oklahoma fan bases hate each other, as do the players and coaches.
However, linebacker Barryn Sorrell might have taken things too far.
On Saturday, the two teams faced off in the most recent installment of the game, as the Longhorns ran away with a 34-3 win.
Of course, that meant a big celebration was in for Texas and its players, and after the game, Sorrell was filmed planting a Longhorns flag in the middle of the field right through a Baker Mayfield jersey.
.
It’s an interesting choice, considering Mayfield hasn’t been with Oklahoma since 2017 and is in his seventh year in the NFL.
However, it is worth mentioning that in Mayfield’s career with Oklahoma, he went 2-1 against Texas and only lost in his first year with the team.
In the all-time rivalry series, Texas has the lead at 64-51-5. The first meeting between the two was in 1900 when Texas won 28-2.
Going into the game, the Longhorns were certainly favored as the No. 1 team in the country, as Oklahoma was No. 18.
Barryn Sorrell Has Played Oklahoma Four Times
Since Sorrell is a senior, he has faced off in this rivalry matchup four times.
With this most recent win and another one in 2022, he would finish 2-2 against them in his career.
In total, through his four years at Texas, he has accumulated 98 tackles, one pass deflection, 11 sacks, and one forced fumble.
You can bet that this game meant a lot to the young linebacker, considering it is likely the last time he plays the Sooners in his college career.
