James had always lived a simple life. As a delivery driver for Amazon, he found joy in the small interactions he had with customers—the friendly waves, the excited barks of neighborhood dogs, and the satisfaction of completing his daily route. But one cold winter morning, his life took an unexpected turn when he found himself at the heart of an event involving one of the most influential men in the world.

The day started like any other. After a quick breakfast and a hot cup of coffee, James put on his uniform and drove to the delivery center. As he scanned through his list of deliveries, his eyes widened—several packages were assigned to a single destination: the U.S. Capitol. While many drivers considered this an exciting opportunity, James felt the opposite. Delivering to such a high-security location meant dealing with multiple checkpoints and strict regulations, something he found exhausting. However, he had no choice but to complete his route.

Deciding to save the Capitol delivery for last, James spent the morning in familiar neighborhoods, enjoying the routine he had come to love. The local streets were his domain, and each delivery brought a small sense of fulfillment. But as the morning progressed, it was time to head towards Washington, D.C., and face the complexity of the Capitol delivery.

As expected, security was tight. James and his partner presented the necessary documents and were guided through a designated route. Upon reaching the delivery area, they were met by a staff member who led them to a quieter section of the Capitol, away from the main event. It was clear that something major was happening—luxury cars lined the streets, and the faint sound of orchestral music hinted at an exclusive gathering of influential figures.

While carrying a heavy package, James accidentally bumped into something on the ground. Focused on his delivery, he ignored it for the moment. After setting the package down, he turned back to investigate. To his surprise, he found a sleek, unbranded smartphone lying on the floor. It was heavier and smaller than most modern phones, its matte black casing giving it a mysterious air.

Curious, James pressed the power button. The screen lit up but immediately displayed a warning—this phone did not recognize him, and within seconds, it locked itself. Realizing the device belonged to someone important, he quickly handed it over to the staff in charge of mail and deliveries, who thanked him and promised to report it immediately.

Feeling accomplished, James left the Capitol and returned to the sorting hub for his lunch break. But just as he was about to enjoy a burger from McDonald’s, his phone rang. It was his boss, calling him back to the office. Worried that he had done something wrong, James nervously walked in.

“You were at the Capitol this morning, right?” his boss asked.

“Yes, sir,” James replied, preparing for the worst.

“I just got a call from Patrick Mahomes.”

James frowned. Surely, this was a joke. His boss was not one to prank his employees, yet here he was, claiming the NFL superstar had personally reached out.

“He says you found his phone and wants to hire you,” his boss continued. “Something about your integrity being exactly what he needs for an upcoming project.”

James was speechless. He asked for details, but even his boss wasn’t entirely sure. “Something to do with security and logistics—a high position, apparently.”

The idea of working for Patrick Mahomes was mind-blowing, but James hesitated. He loved his job and the simplicity it offered. The thought of stepping into a high-profile role felt overwhelming. After a moment of contemplation, he asked for time to think.

That night, James wrestled with his decision. He had always believed in working hard, but he wasn’t sure he was cut out for corporate life. The next morning, he returned to his boss with his answer.

“Sir, I’m honored, but I love what I do. I’m not sure I belong in that world.”

His boss was surprised but respected his choice. “I’ll let them know, but if what I’ve heard about Musk is true, he might not give up so easily.”

James laughed, believing the matter was settled. But fate had other plans.

Later that morning, as James prepared for his next delivery, he noticed a luxury SUV parked outside the sorting hub. No one at the facility owned a vehicle like that. It was clear that someone important had arrived.

His suspicions were confirmed when he was called to his boss’s office again. Walking in, he saw a man seated at the other end of the desk. The moment the man stood and extended his hand, James could hardly believe his eyes.

“Hello, James,” Patrick Mahomes greeted him with a smile. “I’ve heard a lot about you. Can we talk for a minute?”

James shook his hand, still in disbelief. “It’s an honor to meet you, sir.”

Elon took a seat and got straight to the point. “What you did at the Capitol showed great integrity. I need that in a new project I’m launching. Your boss told me why you declined, and I respect that. But I think I have something that might align with your interests.”

James listened intently.

“My latest project is about helping elderly and disabled residents integrate smart home technology to improve their daily lives. Instead of just delivering packages, you’d also install and set up these devices. Every two weeks, you’d check in to make sure everything is running smoothly. You’d still be the neighborhood delivery guy, but with a bigger impact. Your boss has agreed to let you work two days a week for me while keeping your current job.”

James felt a wave of excitement. This wasn’t just any job—this was something meaningful, something that allowed him to connect with people while making a difference.

“So, what do you say?” Elon asked.

With a broad smile, James responded, “Yes.”

Elon shook his hand firmly. “Congratulations. You’re hired. I’ll be in touch.”

As Elon left, James’s boss grinned. “I told you he could be persistent.”

James chuckled. “Yes, sir. He sure can.”

As he reflected on everything that had happened, James realized that doing the right thing had led him to an opportunity he never expected. And though his routine would change, he was ready to embrace this new chapter with open arms.

Brittany Mahomes is still processing the Kansas City Chiefs’ stunning loss in Super Bowl 2025 — and she’s taking comfort in the support from at least one friend.

On her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Feb. 11, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes shared a post from pediatric sleep consultant Jenna Artis, who penned a lengthy tribute to the mother of three and Patrick.

“Not only is Patrick a standout football player, changing the game with his talent and integrity both on and off the field, but he’s also redefining what fatherhood looks like — even with a full plate,” Artis, a Kansas City-based nurse, began.

Artis continued her appraisal of Brittany, calling the KC Current co-owner “the glue.”

“The way you juggle it all with grace, little sleep, selflessness, and love is truly inspiring,” Artis wrote. “You’re an amazing mom (like truly Inspired how you do it all), a wonderful human and a friend anyone would be lucky to have.”

The registered nurse also shared how impressed she has been with the signal-caller’s interest in the minutiae of being a dad.

“I never knew how much dads wanted to be included in bath time, waking up from naps, or that they cared to know every little detail,” Artis wrote. “To so many, you’re the #1 football player, but to three little ones, you’re the #1 dad — and one of the most incredible fathers I’ve had the privilege of working with and for.”

On Sunday, Jan. 12, the Mahomes family welcomed a third child to their crew, daughter Golden Raye Mahomes, joining sister Sterling Skye, 3, and brother Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III, 2.

Artis’ kind words came alongside a screen shot from the NFL star’s social media post on Sunday in which he apologized to fans for his performance in the game.

“Appreciate all the love and support from #ChiefsKingdom,” wrote Mahomes, 29. “I let y’all down today. I’ll always continue to work and try and learn and be better for it.”

He added, “We will be back.”

All of which had Brittany emotional in her Instagram Stories post.

“Crying,” she wrote, adding two crying emojis for emphasis.
