Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has seen members of his family in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons ever since he arose to stardom in 2018 by throwing 50 touchdown passes in his first season as the team’s starting quarterback.

Back in those days, his brother Jackson Mahomes and now-wife Brittany Mahomes were often criticized by fans for their TikTok dances at inappropriate times or places during games. Jackson also got into legal trouble a couple of years ago for assaulting a night club owner.

Last season, Mahomes’ father, Patrick Sr., was arrested for driving under the influence.

And now, the Chiefs quarterback is seeing some of his wife’s social media posts from back in 2023 coming under fire.

The National Advertising Division (NAD) is a non-profit organization that, according to the Better Business Bureau, “holds national advertising across all media types to high standards of truth and accuracy by reviewing truth-in-advertising challenges from businesses, trade associations, consumers, or on its own initiative.”

In a recent report by Rebecca Stewart of AdWeek, Mahomes’ wife was recently the subject of a probe done by NAD that investigated influencers, such as herself, promoting Skims, a clothing line owned by Kim Kardashian.

Per Stewart’s report:

“Also reviewed were two Instagram posts from Mahomes, shared in November 2023 with her 2.1 million-strong audience. The images showed her family, including quarterback husband Patrick Mahomes, posing together wearing Skims.

“Though the shapewear and clothing brand wasn’t referenced in either of the captions, it was tagged in the images, which qualified them as endorsements under FTC guidelines.”

In the photo, the Mahomes couple are wearing flannel patterned Skims pajamas, as are their young children. As the report notes, Kardashian’s brand was not referenced in the post, but was tagged in the images.

Since the probe, Mahomes has added “Paid partnership with Skims” to the post.
