Chiefs coach sheepishly admits that coaching Patrick Mahomes hasn’t benefited the team..

“You feel the burden as a coach and when you’re putting a plan together not to waste his potential,” Bleymaier said. “Not to go through a season where you don’t give him a chance. Not to ruin it as a coaching staff. So instead of feeling like this is just this unbridled excitement that we can do anything, it’s actually more like a terror, like we can’t be the reason we screw this guy or this team up.”

Patrick Mahomes Was in 'Daze' After Shocking Super Bowl Loss to Eagles | Us Weekly

In reality, these comments aren’t the point. Bleymaier is wise to recognize the gravity of the situation and the importance of coaching Mahomes effectively. But for the past two years, there’s been a sense that the offense has been coached in a state of fear.

Bleymaier has been the passing game coordinator for two years, the same two years that Matt Nagy has been the offensive coordinator. Maybe it’s just an easily explainable coincidence that those two seasons coincided with the two worst seasons of Mahomes’ career, or maybe there’s a deeper conclusion to be drawn.

It’s true that last year’s group probably had the worst number of running backs in the league. It’s also true that this season’s group has seen a series of injuries to several key offensive players. Due to the specific circumstances of each campaign, Bleymaier and Nagy are expected to stay and get another chance in 2025.

Patrick Mahomes Made Honest Admission About Letting Chiefs Fans Down in Super Bowl

However, the warning signs surrounding their decision are clear. Kansas City needs to take a hard look at itself in the coming months, and if the offense can’t play freely and fearlessly, fans will understandably become more frustrated and start calling for an overhaul of the offensive coaching staff.

In the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl, Carter, 23, broke through the Chief’s defensive line and appeared to clash with Mahomes.

During the moment, there was no flag thrown onto the field and the Eagles recovered the ball after a fumble.

It was thought that a fine would be handed out to Carter but that has proven not to be the case.

A report by Tom Pelissero has revealed that Carter was not fined by the NFL.

However, it has been claimed that one of his team-mates was, in fact, punished for another incident in the sequence.

Milton Williams has been handed a $14,069 fine for dunking the ball over the crossbar.

Pelissero wrote: “The NFL didn’t fine Eagles DT Jalen Carter for his apparent hit to Patrick Mahomes’ helmet in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LIX.

“However, Milton Williams was fined $14,069 for dunking over the crossbar after the ensuing strip-sack.

Fox cameras showed the defensive tackle run off with the ball in celebration and dunk it over the field goal.”

This adds to the fine that was also handed to Eagles star Jalyx Hunt for Unsportsmanlike conduct

The NFL fined him $5,690 for a bow-and-arrow sack celebration even though no flag was thrown.

Carter made a name for himself at the Georgia Bulldogs and was a two-time College Football Playoff National Championship.

He was a doubt for the Super Bowl after suffering a major fitness scare just days before the match with illness.

He joined the Eagles back in the 2023 NFL Draft as the ninth overall pick.

He had an impressive first year as he was named in the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
