One stat perfectly sums up Angel Reese’s struggles on offense near the hoop.
The Chicago Sky rookie is averaging 13.6 points per game and 12.9 rebounds per game for a team that is pretty bad.
She’s also shooting a disappointing 38.7%, but the stats actually get worse the more you dig in. She simply can’t shoot near the hoop.

Angel Reese has atrocious shooting percentage near the hoop
Reese is shooting just 43.8% from inside five feet, and that’s the lowest percent in the league by a significant margin.
You can see the data graph of shots from within five feet in the mega-viral tweet from Steph Noh below.
For those of you who might have missed, the moment below went viral over the weekend and pretty much sums up the Angel Reese experience on offense.
It’s brutal, and one of the reasons she gets so many offensive rebounds is because she’s constantly getting her own misses.
For comparison, Caitlin Clark is shooting a blistering 54.9% from inside the three point arc this season. That includes deep twos and not just layups.
Clark’s percentage inside the three point is better than Reese from *INSIDE FIVE FEET* by 11.1%.

Angel Reese Immediately Admits Regret with Hailey Van Lith After Chicago Sky Draft Pick
The Chicago Sky made a very popular pick in the 2025 WNBA draft on Monday night, bringing in former Angel Reese teammate Hailey Van Lith with the No. 11 overall pick.
Van Lith and Reese played together two years ago on the LSU Tigers. While they didn’t accomplish their goal then of winning a championship, they’ll have more opportunities to pursue a title together in the WNBA.
Immediately following the selection of Van Lith to the Sky, Reese took to social media. She shared regret about her past with Van Lith.
“We ain’t do it right the first time. Let’s run it backkkkk,” she posted on X.
During their final game together at LSU, Reese and Van Lith came up short against Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes. They lost in the Eight 8 by a final score of 94-87.

Over the last couple of years, Chicago has been drafting extremely well. Reese and Lith are joined by Kamilla Cardoso and Ajsa Sivka as key young core pieces for the Sky. Chicago also brought in Maddy Westbeld, who could turn into a good piece down the road.
As for Van Lith, she is coming off of another quality season with the TCU Horned Frogs. During the 2024-25 women’s college basketball season, she played in 38 games and averaged 17.9 points, 5.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 steals while shooting 45.2% from the floor and 33.8% from 3-point range.
Looking ahead to the 2025 WNBA season, Van Lith and Reese will have a chance to work on completing some unfinished business.
