Patrick Mahomes’ mother makes a desperate plea on her social media.
Tough times for the Mahomes family, especially the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s mother.
Five days after watching Patrick play in the Super Bowl and cheering him on from the family box, Randi saw her father leave. It was she who confirmed her father’s passing on February 14. This date will not only remember the romantic love, but also the love that her father gave Randi and the rest of the family.
Her mother had passed away a few years ago as well, so her father’s departure brought back this pain and left a deep void in her life.
However, after such a profound loss, a new blow came to hit her family.
Randi’s desperate plea
Through her official Instagram account, Randi shared with her followers a new photo of her family, as she usually does. However, this photo was a request, a plea for help.
Through her Stories, Patrick’s mother announced that her cousin’s grandson, Luka, is fighting a rare and very aggressive pediatric cancer.
In the publication, the child is seen in two photographs. In one of them he appears smiling and conveying a transparent innocence, but in the other, he is seen fighting for his life from a hospital bed. “Asking for prayers for my cousin’s grandson, Luka,” Randi began by imploring.
“Sweet Luka is in the hospital fighting Stage L2 intermediate neuroblastoma. Luka was a perfectly healthy baby boy up until the day he turned 8 months old and was life-flighted to Dallas Children’s Hospital. A large tumor was found on his lung,” she wrote.
This is the first time the toddler’s diagnosis has been shared publicly. During a family vacation, Luka breathed in a small amount of water from the pool. After noticing that his difficulty breathing continued, he was flown to Dallas Children’s Hospital, where they discovered a large tumor pressing on his left lung.
After making it through his first chemotherapy session, the little boy will face his second round on June 25. His parents have not been separated from him, so the emotional and financial impact is beginning to be felt.
In Randi’s post, there was also a link that redirects anyone who wants to contribute and get involved with the cause to a GoFundMe page, titled “Support Luka’s Battle Against Neuroblastoma“.
There, they explain more details of Luka’s case and state that the goal of the fundraising is “to cover unexpected costs of treatment that our insurance might not help with, to raise awareness on childhood cancer, and to help other similar causes once Luka gets through this“.
Undoubtedly, Randi demonstrates how love and solidarity can persist and even be transmitted to others, even when pain hits hard.
