WWE Star Calls Out Double-Standard After Being Shamed for GoFundMe Campaign

A WWE Superstar has clapped back at critics after a GoFundMe campaign received flak.

Tamyra Mensah-Stock (also known as Tyra Mae Steele) recently launched a fundraiser to support her mother’s food truck business. At the time of writing, the campaign had raised $2,825 toward its $3,500 goal.

“My mother has been STRUGGLING since she was blessed with a food truck from Cameron Davies, who I will be FOREVER grateful for,” the WWE star wrote in the campaign description, asking supporters to help her reach the goal “maybe for Valentine’s Day?”

Despite clearly stating that the purpose of the GoFundMe was to help her mother establish the food truck business, Tyra drew negative comments from critics who shamed her for seeking financial assistance.

She has since responded with the following statement on X:

“So people that make sex tapes and prey on children can ‘cash in’ but Me, a God fearing patriot happily married for almost 10 years, can’t ask for those that are verbally supporting me, to financially support my mother and her broken business dream that rooted from my Olympic Dream? Help me make sense of that. I see what millions cheer for so theirs boos mean nothing to me. Those that have hearts of compassion are my friends my family and though I cant give yall the time. Know that y’all are always in my heart and i’m doing this for y’all, for God.”

While Mensah-Stock did not explicitly state it, her post implies that the food truck venture went into limbo so she could focus on her Olympic run. She won a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Tyra Mae Steele currently competes on WWE EVOLVE and has previously appeared in NXT. She was also the winner of WWE LFG Season 1.
