Angel Reese fans are furious with the WNBA‘s official social media accounts for seemingly shading her in a throwback post on April 9, 2025.
As the league prepares for the 2025 draft, scheduled for April 14, its official social channels shared a throwback video of last year’s night, where teams selected superstar rookies, including Caitlin Clark, Kamilla Cardoso, and, of course, Reese, in the first rounds.
In the clip celebrating the moment, the WNBA featured videos of every rookie in uniform, except for Reese, which has raised strong emotions among some of her fans.
WNBA Excludes Footage Of Angel Reese’s Gameplay In Throwback Video
The WNBA took its viewers on a trip down memory lane with a throwback video from 2024’s draft night shared on X, formerly Twitter.
“Last April, the 2024 class heard their names called—and the rest was history,” the caption read. “Year 1 in the pros? They did NOT disappoint.”
The montage showcased many of 2024’s most recognizable rookies, like the Los Angeles Sparks’ Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson, Clark, and Cardoso, dressed to the nines on draft night before showing a clip of them in uniform, performing on the court.
However, when it was time for Reese’s highlight, the WNBA chose only to showcase the baller, who led the league in rebounds in 2024, posing for pictures rather than her dominance on the court.
Of course, the league’s actions upset Reese fans, who posted a series of scathing comments defending the Bayou Barbie.
Reese Fans Are Defending The Maryland Native On Social Media After The WNBA’s Snub
It didn’t take long for Reese fans to notice the WNBA’s oversight and begin calling them out online.
“Y’all are *literally* working hard to frame Angel as just an influencer and not a professional basketball player,” wrote one user. “How are there zero clips of her in uniform? The visual rhetoric is LOUD.”
“Angel played in 2 preseason games and 36 regular season games and y’all found everybody else in uniform and/or playing, but couldn’t find any clips of Angel??” another user questioned.
A third user also wrote, “This is an example of the subtle bias the media has against Angel. It’s subtle enough that they will gaslight you that their bias doesn’t exist.”
Angel Reese Fans Blast The W For Their Treatment Of The Chicago Sky Player
The above comments weren’t all that Reese supporters had to say, though. Many other users shared their opinions and blasted the WNBA for the “lack of respect” shown toward their favorite player, who was one of two rookies to make the WNBA All-Star game in 2024.
“The lack of respect is exhausting. Bottom of the barrel -ss league. Angel’s broken enough records in her rookie [year] to be respected the same way others are. It’s so strange. You can use her for agendas and using racism for profit but you can’t post her in work uniform? Yikes,” someone posted.
Other users noted how strange they found the W’s inclusion of Nika Muhl, a Seattle Storm player who averaged 0.1 PPG last season, playing in uniform in the video but not of Reese, who averaged 13.6.
“This is why so many fans think it’s ok to speak on Angel the way they do,” a netizen wrote. “Her own employer doesn’t even respect her.”
Reese Won A Championship During Her First Year In Unrivaled

UNRIVALED
In March 2025, Reese and the Rose BC, part of the 3×3 basketball league Unrivaled, became the organization’s inaugural champions after beating Vinyl BC 62-54.
During her inaugural season, Reese averaged 13.3 PPG and 12.1 rebounds per game.
