She has already become one of the most visible players in the WNBA

Angel Reese and LeBron JamesLAPRESSE
Angel Reese has decided to flip the script during a recent episode of her podcast, Unapologetically Angel.
The conversation, which featured guest Chrisean Rock, started light-hearted but quickly shifted into a full-throated call for WNBA stars to receive the respect-and pay-they deserve. For Reese, it’s never really been about the comparisons.
“Like, cuz you’re doing exactly what LeBron is doing… so what’s the difference?” she asked, referencing how both she and LeBron James draw fans, break narratives and drive cultural relevance.
Yet, their only difference is their paycheck, as Reese will make $74,909 with the Chicago Sky in 2025. Meanwhile, LeBron James is set to earn more than $50 million from his NBA salary alone.
Shifting the entire WNBA
With over 10 million followers across social media, Reese has already become one of the most visible players in the WNBA. But visibility hasn’t translated into league earnings.
“I ain’t got the money for us just yet-but it’s coming,” she said with confidence, emphasizing that the movement isn’t about envy-it’s about fairness.
While Reese’s base WNBA salary sits under $75K, her endorsements tell another story. In 2024, she reportedly earned over $1.5 million thanks to deals with brands like Reebok, Hershey’s, and Beats by Dre.
It’s the same formula that has made LeBron a global empire-but for Reese and others in the WNBA, that off-court income is less luxury and more necessity.
She’s well aware of her role in this evolving sports landscape, stating: “I’mma speak on what’s for the majority. Even if it’s not me right now… the best players deserve the money.”
This isn’t the first time Angel Reese has raised eyebrows with her candidness. Earlier this year, she mentioned on the podcast that she’d heard some players might sit out if negotiations around the next WNBA collective bargaining agreement don’t meet expectations.
“I said, ‘I’m hearing if they don’t give us what we want, we sitting out,’ and that’s the truth,” she clarified later.
