WNBA Fans Troll Sheryl Swoopes After Her Poor Take On Caitlin Clark Resurfaces Amid Historic Rookie Year.
Former WNBA player Sheryl Swoopes received backlash from WNBA fans after making a wrong prediction about Caitlin Clark, the standout player of the Indiana Fever. Clark was highly anticipated before the WNBA draft due to her impressive stats and stellar skills in her college career.
In April, Clark’s teammate, DiJonai Carrington, made a surprising prediction about the Fever’s rookie, saying, “Caitlin Clark might lead the league this year.” In response, Connecticut Sun guard Alyssa Thomas said, “Don’t play with me, nai.”

Swoopes then entered the conversation and laughed at the prediction about Clark, indicating that she disagreed that Clark would lead the league in assists in her debut season. However, the situation took a different turn when the rookie from the Fever not only led the stat but also broke the record.
When BricksCenter posted about Swoopes’ failed prediction regarding Clark on X, NBA fans started making funny jokes about the Hall of Famer.
One fan wrote,“Funny thing is she doesn’t only lead the league but she leads everyone who has ever played in the WNBA history.. in just year 1.”
Meanwhile, another fan commented, “Caitlin Clark lives rent free in Sheryl Swoopes head and will continue to for a VERY long time!”
A WNBA enthusiast mentioned, “Swoopes has proven a few things- one is- she don’t really know the game anymore. thats the nicest one i can say about her.”
Another fan reacted, “I’m sure Sheryl swoopes will have some sort of excuse that will make her the victim though.”
Caitlin Clark’s Recent Achievement
Clark quickly began to dominate the league after her debut. The 22-year-old, who recently surprised WNBA fans with her pregame outfit, is currently averaging 19.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 8.4 assists in the WNBA season.
On September 10th, Clark was selected as the Eastern Conference Player of the Week once again, making her the first rookie to win the award three times in a row in WNBA and NBA history.
On September 13th, during the game against the Las Vegas Aces, Clark recorded her 317th assist, setting a new WNBA single-season assist record. Clark’s next game will be against the Dallas Wings on September 15.
