A diamond Ring as a caption to a sweet Black and white photo of a couple showering love on each other – that’s it. Simple and yet effective, a heart-touching message shared by Lexie Hull to convey that she is now engaged. A five-year-long relationship turned page into their love story – a partnership for a lifetime nearly sealed. Lexie Hull, who chose fate over coincidence, had it coming all the way.
It was the fate after all. The 25-year-old met the love of her life in college, and they continue to go strong today as they both tread the highs and lows of their professional worlds. Staying strong together, the pair is now looking inseparable.
Lexie is currently enjoying a great outing with the Indiana Fever team in the WNBA and looking to win her first title with the franchise. Her boyfriend, Will Matthiessen, was also an athlete. In today’s social media world, both stars keep their fans updated with their timely posts. And it was this post only that broke the news to the fans. Here are details about Lexie Hull’s fiancé, Will Matthiessen.

Who is Lexie Hull’s fiance Will Matthiessen?
On January 9, 1998, Will was born to Julie and Conrad Matthiessen as a second child. He has one younger and one elder sister as siblings, but his athletic abilities seem to stem from his grandparents and his two uncles who rowed for Cal. Will’s grandmother was a tennis player, whereas his grandpa represented Yale in soccer and rugby. His hobbies were no different, ranging from fishing, skiing, and ping pong to golf.
But it was baseball he ultimately chose. The 26-year-old was a fairly dominant player as the No. 5 overall recruit in Oregon. After excelling at West Linn High School to being named the Best Male Athlete, Matthiessen joined the Stanford Cardinals. It was there he would meet Lexie Hull, but right alongside making his mark in the sport.
252 plate appearances as a batter in the year 2019 (Junior Year), Matthiessen would finish his college career with a batting average of 0.305, along with having 91 hits, 75 RBIs, and 19 home runs. For his impressive all-around abilities, he was a finalist for the John Olerud Award in 2019, apart from being a part of ABCA’s 2019 All-American third-team and 2019 All-America honourable mention.
Away from the court, the baseball talent was obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Management Science and Engineering. Post-college, Matthiessen was drafted by the MLB Team Pittsburgh Pirates in the sixth round of the 2019 MLB June Amateur Draft. The Tualatin-born going into one of the biggest stages impressed, to be listed as a first baseman, designated hitter, and relief pitcher by Baseball Reference.

During his MLB career with the Pirates, he had 197 hits, 157 RBIs, and 129 runs, which he scored a decent average of 0.228. To top that, he also had 33 home runs. Looks like his sporting prowess earned him a lot of honour. However, the 6 feet 6 inches star had a major issue with strikeouts and, following a series of injuries,s had to retire. But the former baseball star makes sure to encourage Hull for her games.
During the off-season in 2023, Hull was travelling, Matthiessen made sure that she checked in different gyms and practised her part regularly, which also helped Christie Sides be sure that her mentee was ready to let loose her demons on the court whenever the situation demanded. Even after the 2022 WNBA season, Hull used to visit Matthiessen frequently and make sure that the two got personal time to enjoy together.
As for his professional endeavours, Matthiessen was a venture associate at Commonwealth Impact Investment for 6 months before opting to be an intern as an analyst at Sapient Capital. As per his LinkedIn bio, Matthiessen hopes to give back to the world and the communities “that allowed me to grow into the individual I am today.” Hopefully, Hull will be able to make a difference through her balling career while Matthiessen will give his best through the finance world to his community. Perhaps, as Hull admits, it is all written in the stars.
How did Lexie Hull meet Will Matthiessen? When are the wedding bells set to ring?
Lexie Hull and Will Matthiessen met while they were both student athletes at Stanford University. Hull’s choice to join the Bachelor of Science in Management Science and Engineering course changed her personal life altogether. Perhaps the common ground brought the spark between the two, reasoning the Fever guard’s belief in ‘fate’.
With their love for sports, Matthiessen played baseball for the Stanford Cardinals and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates, while Hull played basketball for the Stanford Cardinals and was taken in by the Indiana Fever franchise in 2022. Though their professional obligations separated them, the bond grew even stronger. The two would likely get together, going by their timeline. However, while the relationship continued well beyond, Matthiessen’s move to join Sapient Capital once again proved to be a good choice for the couple as both of his offices are situated in Indianapolis, allowing the couple more time together.
The duo brought a house together recently, with the property dealer announcing the sale on Instagram. Both stars, taking a step at a time, have now jumped to another level with the recent engagement confirmation. It’s simply the cherry on the cake. Speaking of cake, many will be looking for the Lexie Hull and Will Matthiessen wedding day. Well, neither the bride-to-be nor the groom-to-be has confirmed the date yet, but fans will be hoping to see the couple getting married earliest.
