Patrick Mahomes Learns Bad News on Monday Amid Praise From Wife Brittany for Major Decision
Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs is getting some bad news and some good news today in terms of off-field plans.
There’s good news and bad news.
The bad news is Patrick Mahomes – who rarely makes the wrong move as he annually leads the Kansas City Chiefs either to or toward the Super Bowl – does not always get his business-related wishes granted.
The good news is that Mahomes, who, despite being only 29, has driven the Chiefs to five AFC titles and three Super Bowl victories as he preps for his ninth campaign in the NFL, does get his way when it comes to charitable work,
Mahomes has been trying to bring an WNBA team in Kansas City, but on Monday, the league announced that there will be expansion teams in the following cities: Cleveland, Detroit and Philadelphia.
So Kansas City will have to wait, along with bidders from St. Louis, Austin, Nashville, Houston, Miami, Denver and Charlotte.
Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, are already invested in the women’s sports community in Kansas City as they work as co-owners of the Kansas City Current, the city’s NWSL team.
Meanwhile, as late-July training camp approaches, the Mahomes are invested in another way.
Through his 15 and the Mahomies Foundation and in a partnership with Bold.org, Mahomes is giving back to students in his hometown of Tyler, Texas by committing $50,000 in scholarship funds for five students in the Tyler area, with each student receiving $10,000. Brittany Mahomes praised the quarterback for his generosity.
So, in the end, even though Mahomes didn’t win it all in one venture, he’s helping others to win in another.
