Caitlin Clark saves par with nice pitch, long putt at The Annika pro-am | Golf Channel!
Nelly Korda gives honest verdict of Caitlin Clark’s golf ability after playing together
Caitlin Clark is one of the brightest stars in the WNBA, but it seems her golf game could use slight work according to LPGA superstar Nelly Korda after the pair played together at a Pro-Am.
Nelly Korda claimed WNBA star Caitlin Clark is “very talented” despite hitting some shots to the right as the duo teed off together in Florida.
As she eyes a seventh win of the LPGA season at The ANNIKA in Florida this week, Korda linked up with Clark at the Pro-Am. Along with Clark’s playing partners Dan Towriss and Jason Rickard, the pair played nine holes at the Pelican Golf Club before legend Annika Sorenstam took over at the turn.
While she only played half a round with the WNBA Rookie of the Year, Korda ran a keen eye over Clark’s game. The Indiana Fever stud endured a slightly round filled with highs and lows, and while she nearly fired a ball directly into a watching fan’s head, she left Korda impressed – especially given how infrequently she is able to hit the course.
“It was great to see how relaxed she was,” said Korda, who was amazed to see hundreds of fans flock to Belleair, Florida to check out Clark’s swing. “Obviously with the media attention she has gotten probably in the past year and a half, two years, you can see how she’s comfortable playing in front of a larger crowd. And she was just really enjoying it. You can tell.
“She’s definitely very talented. She was picking the ball really clean. She was losing a couple shots to the right, but I asked her how many times a week she plays and I think with the amount of obligations she has she probably gets to the golf course once a week. So just play once a week she was playing really well.”
Korda, who has emerged as the face of women’s golf in recent years, revealed Clark did not turn to her for any advice. She admitted it was difficult to balance chatting with her playing partners while also trying to practice for the upcoming tournament.

Despite swapping sports, Clark was the main attraction on the course throughout Wednesday morning. Fans were desperate to spot the WNBA All-Star guard, with her No. 22 Fever and Iowa Hawkeyes jerseys on display.
Impressed by the volume of spectators, Korda hailed Clark’s impact on the event and women’s sports in general. She declared: “I think it’s great for women’s sports. I love that she has a love for the game of golf. Me, like I’ve never really tuned into watching basketball before her honestly.
“I think it’s just growing the interest in all of women’s sports. I hope that’s what grows from this relationship.”
However, Korda admitted she needed advice from Clark when it comes to her own basketball skills, adding of her jump shot: “Probably needs work. Probably not that good. Maybe I’ll ask Caitlin for some advice. Maybe next time we get together it’ll be on a basketball court.”
