While Caitlin Clark of the WNBA Indiana Fever prepares for her sophomore season with skyrocketing popularity, Chennedy Carter of the WNBA Chicago Sky is trying to explain herself on streaming platforms. Or is Carter being made an example of for how players should treat the league’s new superstar?
‘I Love The Hate’: Caitlin Clark Infamous Scuffle With Chennedy Carter Gets Real Take From Sky Star
What happened to her and Caitlin Clark is only another thing that usually happens in basketball. At least, this is how former Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter now looks at the viral moment she had with the Fever star during the 2024 season.
In a recent interview, former Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter talked about the scuffle she had with Caitlin Clark during the 2024 season.
“It happens in basketball,” Carter said. “It’s just like one of those things. It’s kind of what happened and it spiraled out of control. … It was like a little tap, like, ‘I’m here not to harm you or anything.’”
“My personal view is I don’t have anything against [Clark]. She’s a great player and so am I. … I love it, though. They think I hate it! I love the hate!”
The 2024 WNBA season witnessed a heated moment between Caitlin Clark and Chennedy Carter during a game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky. The incident occurred in the third quarter when Carter delivered a controversial hip-check to Clark, which many deemed unnecessary and unsportsmanlike.
The WNBA later upgraded the foul to a Flagrant 1 after reviewing the play. Clark, known for her resilience, brushed off the incident, stating that such challenges are part of the game at this level.
Carter, on the other hand, embraced the backlash, openly stating that she enjoys the “bad guy role” in women’s basketball. She defended her actions, claiming it was a minor tap and not intended to harm Clark. The scuffle sparked widespread debate among fans and players, highlighting the intense rivalries and competitive spirit within the league.

Caitlin Clark Addresses “White Privilege” Controversy
In her guest appearance for an episode of “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman” on Netflix, Caitlin Clark addressed the controversial topic of her and her so-called “white privilege.”
“I’m obviously white, but I think I’m somebody who grew up a huge fan of this league,” Clark said. “I grew up watching this league, going to games, supporting this league. So I know where this league comes from: a lot of Black women that grew up making this league what it is. And that’s kind of the shoulders that we stand on.”
“So I think that was something I’m very aware of, and something I’m very thankful for. And they deserve all the credit, and the more we can give credit to them, the better. I’m very aware of that, and I know that, and I think there is responsibility in acknowledging that.”
