Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid recently shared his admiration for Taylor Swift, commending her for the way she has handled public scrutiny.
Swift, who has been a strong supporter of her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, faced some backlash from fans during the 2025 Super Bowl.
Earlier this month, Swift was in attendance at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, cheering on the Chiefs as they aimed for a historic three-peat. However, their hopes were dashed when the Philadelphia Eagles delivered a dominant performance to claim the championship.
As Swift appeared on the stadium’s big screen, some members of the crowd voiced their disapproval with loud boos.
Despite the mixed reception, Reid had nothing but praise for the pop superstar. Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, he described Swift as a “good girl” and credited her for managing the attention with the right attitude.

Andy Reid Defends Swift’s Presence in the NFL Spotlight
“She’s a good girl,” Reid told Pro Football Talk. “She handles that whole thing the right way. That’s a tough deal. She does a great job of handling it.”
Reid also took a moment to commend Kelce for navigating the heightened media attention surrounding his relationship with Swift. “Kelce, I think, does a great job with handling it,” the coach added.
Acknowledging that scrutiny of players’ loved ones is nothing new in professional sports, Reid emphasized that Swift is just as much a part of the Chiefs’ extended family as other significant others.
“She’s part of the team and, like the other girlfriends and wives, they’re part of it. And that’s all part of the process,” Reid explained.

Super Bowl Fallout and Kelce’s Uncertain Future
The boos directed at Swift weren’t the only jeers heard at the Super Bowl—Chiefs players also encountered a less-than-welcoming reception from what appeared to be a pro-Eagles crowd when they emerged from the tunnel.
Since the Super Bowl loss, Swift and Kelce have largely kept a low profile. On February 18, the New Heights podcast, hosted by Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce, announced a brief break in their regular episode schedule.

“No new episode this week, but WE’LL BE BACK with offseason episodes with amazing guests soon,” the podcast’s official account shared on social media.
Meanwhile, speculation has grown over whether Kelce will return for another NFL season. The 34-year-old tight end, who turns 36 in October, has openly discussed retirement considerations. On a recent New Heights episode, Kelce admitted he is still weighing his options, saying he’s “kicking every can I can down the road.”
Reid revealed that he has advised Kelce to take some time away from football before making any decisions about his future.
“I told him, ‘Get away. Don’t think about all that. Just relax, man. Chill down, and then we got time for that,’” Reid said at the combine. “I know it’s out there that there is a deadline, but he and I talk all the time. So, I’ll figure it out from him.”
