Love for Boyfriend Halts Caitlin Clark’s Hectic Iowa Schedule to Drop 1 Word Message for Connor McCaffery

When Caitlin Clark decided to attend the Iowa Hawkeyes game against Drake on Sunday, fans thought that, for the time being, she was done with attending Butler games. Clark had, since the end of WNBA, given time either to golf, which has been one of her childhood loves, or found to be chilling with her friends and mostly her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery. However, when the Butler Bulldogs were on the court battling against their opponents, how could the 22-year-old not show her support?

“Iguodala to Curry, back to Iguodala, up for the layup! Oh! Blocked by James! LeBron James with the rejection! “ the Iowa baseballer Izaya Ono-Fullard captioned the carousel while sharing snaps from the Bulldogs game against the SMU Mustangs. The picture had  McCaffery standing with those who looked to be his brothers and Fullard. One of the pictures even had Fullard wearing an Indiana Fever locket, most probably showing his support to Clark. And how could Clark not notice this?

“Hard,” the reigning ROTY commented on the picture, which also had comments from McCaffery and his brother Patrick, who was present donning a Bulldogs jersey. Thus, Connor was having his own mini Iowa reunion.

Connor represented the Iowa Hawkeyes men’s basketball team from 2017 to 2023, coached by his father, Fran McCaffery. Once Connor moved on from the Hawkeyes, he worked with the Indiana Pacers as a coaching assistant. Currently, he is with the Butler Bulldogs as an assistant coach, and Clark has attended all three of his previous games.

However, despite the generational player not being in the arena, the Bulldogs won the game by an 81-70 margin, which says a lot about Connor’s coaching abilities. But what was a delightful moment for fans was that Clark took time from her otherwise busy schedule to take note of her boyfriend’s reunion and success. Meanwhile, she was present in her own reunion with her Iowa girls.

Caitlin Clark’s mini-reunion with Lisa Bluder

Can you think back to the feeling when someone returns to their home? The same feeling it was when the number 22 graced the Knapp Center on Sunday to attend a game between Drake and the Iowa Hawkeyes. While Clark is known for her reserved, borderline shy personality, she was seen hugging her former head coach, Lisa Bluder, as the Hawkeyes staff gathered around her and were engaged in a chit-chat.

This reminded everyone of the bond between the coach and her mentee and Bluder’s words for Clark when she saw the former Iowa Queen excelling on the big stage. “When you see your athletes achieve their dreams, that’s what coaching is all about. I absolutely love it,” Bluder had expressed. Similarly, Clark had reciprocated by saying, “Simply no one better at building a team.”

Plus, since the new HCs, Jan Jensen and Bluder, both have ties with Drake, being their HC and student at one point, they were spotted with the now Drake HC, Jennie Baranczyk. While the Hawkeyes won the game by an 86-73 margin, the GOAT Clark once again proved that she is a great player and a good human being with the care she showed for Connor.
