Angel Reese’s Last Bucket Before Injury Is Going Viral.

When Angel Reese dropped the news that she will miss the remainder of the 2024 WNBA season due to a wrist injury, the Chicago Sky star started her emotional post by mentioning that she “never would have imagined” that her final shot of the campaign would be a 3-pointer.

Reese was referring to her lone 3-point shot made during the Sky’s 92-78 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday. It came late in the fourth quarter after Reese found some space to launch from distance.

Sure enough, it’s an understandable sentiment, especially since Reese isn’t really a shooter. Including Friday’s make, the former LSU star has only connected three triples in 16 attempts so far in her young professional career.

Because of Reese’s mention about her final shot, however, the play re-emerged and went viral. ESPN posted a video of the shot on Instagram, which garnered plenty of reactions.

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5) on Aug. 18, 2024 at Footprint Center in Phoenix.

Fans couldn’t help but feel bad for Angel Reese and the Sky, especially amid the team’s bid to make the playoffs.

“Dammm we were all rooting for the SKY and excited to see their playoff run!!!” a disappointed supporter shared.

“How’d she get injured?” another commenter wondered.

A fan added, “Oh no that’s the second good rookie. We’ve lost to the league along with Cameron Brink.

“Ohh no not my goat Angel. We’ll be back stronger year 2,” a Reese supporter declared.

A social media user furthered, “Oh no, I’m a CC fan, and I’m so sorry this happened to her. Never wish injury on any player. Prayers to you Angel.”

“Heal up Angel, we’ll be watching WNBA next season too!” a sixth fan said.

The severity of Reese’s injury remains unclear, with the Sky only saying that she underwent “further medical evaluation” before the decision to let her sit out the final six games of the campaign.

Reese ends her season averaging 13.6 points and a WNBA-best 13.1 rebounds per game. She also finished the year with the most rebounds in a season in league history with 446.
