BREAKING: Drunk NFL Coach Andy Reid and Star Player Involved in Terrifying Car Crash at Busy City Intersection
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was involved in a dramatic car crash Thursday afternoon that left witnesses stunned and scrambling to help. The accident, which occurred at approximately 3:45 PM at a heavily trafficked city intersection, brought traffic to a grinding halt and ignited immediate public concern—especially as it was revealed that a young player under Reid’s mentorship was also in the vehicle.
According to initial reports, Reid’s car, a black SUV, lost control and violently collided with a silver sedan in the middle of the intersection. Witnesses described the moment as “explosive,” with both vehicles spinning before coming to rest amidst a chaos of crumpled steel and shattered glass.
“It was like something out of an action movie,” said Maria Gonzales, who had just finished her shift at a nearby café. “One moment I was walking to the bus stop, and the next, there was this huge crash. I saw the SUV swerve—then boom. People started running over right away.”
Among the first to identify the individuals involved was bystander Thomas Reed. “I couldn’t believe it—it was Coach Reid,” he said. “He looked dazed, definitely shaken, but was conscious and trying to calm everyone down. His passenger, a young player I recognized from recent games, was in the passenger seat and also appeared stunned.”
Emergency responders arrived swiftly, securing the scene and administering aid to Reid, his player, and the driver of the other vehicle. Though the extent of injuries has not been officially confirmed, preliminary accounts suggest that both Reid and the player suffered only minor injuries. The condition of the other driver remains under evaluation.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, with early speculation centered on speed, mechanical failure, or possible impairment. The mention of alcohol has not yet been confirmed but is expected to be a critical focus of the inquiry, given circulating rumors about Reid’s state at the time of the incident.
The intersection itself is notorious for accidents, with local officials having fielded safety complaints in the past. This latest incident is expected to renew calls for traffic reform in the area.
Coach Andy Reid, revered not only in Kansas City but across the league for his decades-long career and recent Super Bowl victories, had just begun easing into the offseason after another intense year. For a man known for his discipline and leadership, this crash—especially under the shadow of potential DUI allegations—casts an unexpected and unsettling turn in his legacy.
The NFL community and fans have already flooded social media with messages of concern and support. Many have shared hopes for a full recovery and gratitude that the situation wasn’t more tragic. “We love Coach Reid,” tweeted one fan. “This man has given so much to the game—praying for healing and clarity.”
As the investigation unfolds, this event serves as a jarring reminder that even sports legends and leaders are not immune to life’s unpredictability. For Coach Reid and his young player, the road ahead may now include not only physical healing but also a deeper reckoning with accountability and vulnerability beyond the gridiron.

Britt Reid, the Kansas City Chiefs linebackers coach and son of head coach Andy Reid, will not be at Super Bowl LV after he was involved in a serious car accident.
The Chiefs assistant coach was involved in a multi-vehicle pile-up in Missouri on Thursday that resulted in injuries to two young children.
The Kansas City Police Department (KCDP) issued a statement on Saturday saying one child injured in the accident was in critical condition, and they were conducting an investigation that could take weeks.
The five-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries after the pickup truck Reid was driving slammed into two vehicles parked at the side of Interstate 435 near the Chiefs’ practice facility.

A four-year-old was also injured in the collision and suffered non life-threatening injuries.
A GoFundMe page has since been set up on behalf of the severely injured child by a relative.
According to the page, the crash victim “suffered swelling in the brain and bleeding around her brain, she hasn’t woken since the crash.”
The Chiefs said on Saturday they were still in the information-gathering process and had no further comment.
Reid, 35, has been with the team since his father was hired by the franchise in 2013.
He reportedly suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash.
Police are investigating Reid for suspicion of driving under the influence. He told authorities that he had two or three drinks that evening, according to a police report.
Chiefs and Buccaneers in Super Bowl showdown
The Chiefs went through a final practice at their Kansas City, Missouri, home field before boarding a charter for the trip to Florida.
The accident did not appear to be a distraction for the Chiefs, with a pool report indicating players appeared in good spirits during the morning walk-through session.
“Good energy,” Andy Reid said. “It’s important to have that.
“This was just kind of a review day, so we go back through all the situations and make sure we have all those covered.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chiefs opted to spend Super Bowl week at home and fly to Tampa only the day before the NFL championship game.

The Chiefs will face the Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV aiming to become the first team to win back-to-back titles since the New England Patriots in 2004 and 2005.
Tom Brady is also going for a seventh ring, while Patrick Mahomes, the apparent heir to the quarterbacking summit, is seeking a second in a row with Kansas City.

Yes, Tampa, Florida, where the Super Bowl is being played on Sunday (Monday AEDT). No team has played in the big one in their home stadium previously.
“There’s a lot that comes along with the Super Bowl,” says Rob Gronkowski, the three-time champion tight end who came out of retirement to reunite with Brady.
“There’s a lot that comes along with this week.
“But just having it at home, cutting out the travel, knowing where you can stay, where your friends can stay, where you family can stay, it just makes it a lot easier to have it at your home stadium, big time.”
