Chiefs Star Patrick Mahomes Accused Of Faking Injury
Despite being less than a week removed from suffering a high-ankle sprain, Patrick Mahomes has received the green light to play this Sunday for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Mahomes limped off the field last Sunday against the Cleveland Browns after the lower half of his body got rolled up on. At the time, it looked like a very serious injury for the three-time Super Bowl champion. And yet, he didn’t miss a day of practice this week. On Thursday, it was officially announced that he’ll suit up for this Saturday’s showdown with the Houston Texans.
“I’ve been through it with him before, and he amazed me every time he does it,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “The guy, he’s been so mentally tough and just puts it into a mindset that he has going into it [from] where he was a few days ago.”
While Reid is praising Mahomes’ toughness, the rest of the NFL world is wondering just how serious this ankle injury is. Some fans are even convinced the two-time MVP is faking it.
“Patrick Mahomes was at Swifts party STANDING fine,” one person tweeted. “Fake injury again. Like always. People on FB are right about him. I don’t like the KC either. Just speaking the truth.”
“The annual fake Mahomes injury,” another fan wrote.
“Everyone quit praising Mahomes for coming back after an injury. It’s probably fake to get the most attention,” a third fan said.

It’s odd to accuse Mahomes of faking an injury when he legitimately missed snaps during last weekend’s game. Carson Wentz closed things out for the Chiefs since Mahomes was in too much pain.
That being said, Mahomes has become the villain of the NFL. If his haters see an opening, they’re going to take it. In this particular case, they believe he’s putting on a show for the cameras.
Well, we will find out on Saturday just how great Mahomes is feeling. If he’s not moving around like his normal self, that should silence the skeptics.
Kickoff for the Chiefs-Texans game is at 1 p.m. ET. It’ll be televised on NBC and streamed on Peacock.
