Some WNBA Fans Jokingly Gave Caitlin Clark, Lexie Hull Duo New Nickname After Team Event

Indiana Fever stars Caitlin Clark and Lexie Hull have been on the fun end of a new nickname some WNBA fans have given them as a duo.

The new nickname stems from a ‘pool party’ the Fever had in Arizona prior to their 88-82 win over the Phoenix Mercury on June 30. At this pool shindig, Hull recorded Clark playing a game that they called ‘Mermaid.’ The video blew up on social media faster than Mrs. Puff after Spongebob’s boating school shenanigans.

‘Mermaids’ is the name these fans are giving Clark and Hull. As clever as it is, the nickname didn’t see the light of day until the Fever’s recent pickleball competition.

One WNBA fan even went so far as to capture the nickname with a photoshopped image of the two as actual mermaids.

Clark and Hull have made quite a splash this season, leading the Fever to a 9-13 record, good for the seventh seed in the WNBA Playoffs.

Clark has translated her game swimmingly from college with the Iowa Hawkeyes to the WNBA. She recently recorded the first triple-double by a WNBA rookie ever.

Hull has made waves coming off the bench this season. In 16 games played, she is averaging 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds.
