Social media had plenty to say after it was revealed that Friday night’s incident wasn’t the first public incident involving Phillies Karen.
For those unaware, “Phillies Karen” is the nickname for a woman who went viral in a bizarre video during Friday night’s contest between the Miami Marlins and Philadelphia Phillies at LoanDepot Park.
Harrison Bader hit a home run in the top of the fourth inning to extend Philadelphia’s lead to 5-1. A man obtained Bader’s home run ball and gave it to his son, only to be confronted by an angry “Karen” who demanded the ball for herself. The man, visibly confused, decided to comply and hand the ball over to Karen:
Make Her Famous: Full blown Karen claims the ball is hers, after a Dad finally gets a home run ball for his Phillies fan son on his birthday, and demands the ball be given to her! The dad, after the Karen went all out bitch mode, gave her the ball. Would you have done the same? pic.twitter.com/DklPMe3Mag

But the whole saga gets even weirder, since this apparently wasn’t the first rodeo for Phillies Karen at a public event.
Post Traumatik, a Pittsburgh-based rock and roll band, shared a story about the same woman on its Facebook page. Apparently, Karen also stole a signed guitar, which band member Joe Pribesh tried handing to a boy in a wheelchair. The post has since been deleted, but you can see the screenshot below:

Phillies Karen Should Have Thought Twice

Thankfully, the Marlins and Phillies came together to ensure the boy had the memory of a lifetime following Karen’s selfish acts. The Marlins gave the fan a prize pack and multiple baseballs, and the Phillies orchestrated a meeting between the boy and Harrison Bader.
Bader presented the kid with an autographed baseball bat, giving him an even greater memory than receiving a home run ball. Throw in the Phillies cruising to a 9-3 victory, and it turned out to be a special day for the boy and his family.
At the same time, people like this so-called “Phillies Karen” ought to consider possible consequences before taking ridiculous and inexcusable actions like this. In today’s age of social media, it doesn’t take much to identify and expose someone for doing something as pathetic as taking a souvenir away from a young fan.
Now, Karen has to accept that she got her “15 minutes of fame” for all the wrong reasons.
