Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce Opens Up About His “Frustrating” Chemistry With Patrick Mahomes

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce admits that frustration is brewing with the lack of chemistry between him and his quarterback.
Though the Chiefs lead the AFC with an 11-1 record, the 35-year-old Travis Kelce has been noticeably quiet for large stretches of the season. He’s on pace to finish with his worst numbers since becoming a regular starter in 2014, with 75 catches for only 637 yards and two touchdowns.
During the latest edition of the “New Heights” podcast that he co-hosts with older brother Jason Kelce, Travis admitted that the frustration is mounting over the lack of chemistry with Patrick Mahomes:
I’m just not on the same page as Pat. It can get frustrating. It can get f**king frustrating. That’s for damn sure. Where I take a lot of pride is once we get in that red zone, man. Once we get in that red zone, man, I get a little hungrier and right now, for whatever reason this year, I just can’t find my way in the end zone.”
Mahomes isn’t exactly having a dazzling season himself, either. The 29-year-old is averaging a career-low 248.3 passing yards per game, with just 2,979 passing yards and 19 touchdowns against 11 interceptions.

And regardless of statistics, the fact remains that Kansas City is the most dangerous team when January rolls around. They don’t have as many style points as the Detroit Lions, Philadelphia Eagles or Buffalo Bills, but Kelce and company are the defending champs for a reason.
The Chiefs will try to push themselves closer to securing the AFC’s top seed and first-round bye when they host the AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers on “Sunday Night Football.”

Kelce may be a year older now, but would anybody really be surprised if his All-Pro form returned in the postseason? The Chiefs, like the old New England Patriots in the Tom Brady days, always seem to save their best for January and February.
