A former longtime player in the National Football League is blaming Patrick Mahomes for bringing an end to his career.

The Kansas City Chiefs have been the best team in the NFL for arguably the last five years, and along the way, they have broken several hearts.

One of their most iconic games came against the Buffalo Bills in the 2021-2022 playoffs, in which a player on the opposing team decided he had finally seen enough.

During an appearance on The Facility on FS1, former long-time wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders revealed that Patrick Mahomes game-tying, 13-second drive in the Divisional Round actually made him retire from football.

He also stated that the Chiefs quarterback made him cry.

“I still remember, after we scored, my family was going crazy,” Sanders said.

“I told them to calm down, because I’ve been in the division with Pat, you’ve got to play him for four quarters. In my heart, I knew … 13 seconds … he a bad boy.”

Once that happened, Sanders admitted, “I retired after that game. You know how many times Patrick Mahomes made me cry, though?”

Sanders continued:

“I was in the AFC West, it happened with the 49ers in the Super Bowl — I’m a grown man and he’s making me cry. … I retired, dog. I’m up here right now because of him.”

Throughout his NFL career, Sanders played for several teams including the Bills, Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Sanders played for the Bills for just one season, his final season. That year saw him put up 626 yards in 14 games.

Against the Chiefs in that divisional game, he had one catch for 16 yards.

Patrick Mahomes Has The Current Chiefs Rolling Despite Only Loss To The Bills

The Buffalo Bills might very well be seeing the Chiefs in the playoffs yet again.

The Bills are currently second in the AFC with an impressive 10-2 record and are the only team that can say that they have defeated Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

The Chiefs are 11-1, and as long as they continue to win, they will have the number one seed in the AFC Playoffs.
