At the start of training camp, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes sent a strong message on the team’s goals this season.

“You always have to get better,” Mahomes told reporters. “That’s something that people lose track of when you have success. We didn’t win that last game, but we had a lot of success last year. I think sometimes people want to be stagnant. They want to go out there and do it over again. We have to get better.”

On a more specific note, he wants a deep ball back as a threat in their offense. “The mindset is getting back to throwing the ball down the field, and if we can do that, it’ll open up the rest of the offense,” he said.

While Mahomes gets locked in for the 2025 NFL season, his wife, Brittany Mahomes, is also focusing on her fitness. She welcomed the couple’s third child, a daughter named Golden, in January.

The 29-year-old regularly posts videos and snapshots of her workouts on Instagram, and gave Mahomes a special shoutout while he trains at Missouri Western State College.

Training camp is famously a hard stretch for NFL families as the hours are long and leave very little time for players to see their loved ones. However, Brittany made sure the three-time MVP knew he was on her mind, rocking his Adidas kicks during a workout.

She captioned the post on her Instagram Stories, “My husband makes pretty cool shoes, you should try them,” and added a link to the Adidas Mahomes 2.

Mahomes reposted her message on his Instagram Stories without further comment. He simply shared the post with a red heart emoji.

Patrick & Brittany Mahomes’ Bid for a WNBA Team Got Denied

While Mahomes and Brittany are co-owners of the NWSL’s KC Current, along with owners Chris and Angie Long, they also met with the WNBA in October about bringing a new franchise to Kansas City.

They faced stiff competition as multiple cities made bids. The Golden State Valkyries joined league this season as the 13th team. The WNBA previously announced new expansion teams in Toronto, Canada and Portland, Oregon, will join for the 2026 season.

While it’s not difficult to see how a WNBA team in Kansas would thrive based the KC Current’s explosive success, the league focused on cities that already have NBA teams. In addition to adding the Cleveland Rockers, they announced an expansion team in Detroit by 2029 and Philadelphia in 2030.

The league shared in a statement, “Each location was selected based on an analysis of market viability, committed long-term ownership groups, potential for significant local fan, corporate, media, and city and state support, arena and practice facilities, and community commitment to advancing the sport, among other factors.”

Each team paid a $250 million expansion fee and plan to invest further in building facilities.
