Did Jada Pinkett Smith Really Issue Death Threats to Will Smith’s Former Friend?
A shocking new lawsuit is stirring up fresh controversy around Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith — and for the first time, someone from within Will Smith’s former inner circle is speaking publicly.
Legal analysts say the case may be a long shot, but if it manages to survive early dismissal, it could reopen a flood of damaging rumors and uncomfortable questions about the Smiths, including renewed attention on the infamous Oscars slap.

According to NBC legal analyst Misty Marris, the lawsuit alleges that following a private party hosted by Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and members of her entourage confronted the plaintiff, Salam, at the Regency Calabasas Commons. In the filing, Salam claims Jada warned him that if he didn’t stop talking about her, he could “end up missing” or “catch a bullet.”
Salam further alleges that Jada demanded he sign a non-disclosure agreement, implying serious consequences if he refused.
Roughly six months later, after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, Salam says he was approached to assist with crisis management efforts for the Smith family. He claims he declined because it conflicted with his morals — and that his refusal marked the beginning of what he describes as a coordinated smear campaign against him.

According to Salam, things escalated even further once the Smiths allegedly learned he was writing a so-called “whistleblower” memoir about his experiences. He claims the backlash intensified after that revelation.
In a viral interview, Salam spoke openly about Will and Jada’s relationship, including claims about their sexuality and sex life. He insisted he only spoke publicly to protect himself and document what he says really happened.
“I know the information I have,” Salam said at the time. “I know they’re going to try to come for me. But I don’t fear anybody except the law.”

Jada Pinkett Smith later appeared on The Breakfast Club, where she laughed off the allegations and dismissed them entirely.
“It’s nonsense,” she said. “This is a person who tried a money shakedown that didn’t work. We’re going to take legal action.”
Ironically, Salam now argues that Jada’s public threat of legal action reinforced his claims rather than disproved them. He alleges that Will and Jada only responded because, in his view, “they know it’s true.”

Legal experts, however, remain skeptical. Analysts predict that Jada’s attorneys will aggressively move to dismiss the case, arguing that the claims — particularly those involving alleged threats and public statements — do not meet the legal threshold required to proceed.
Most observers believe the lawsuit is unlikely to go far.
But there’s a catch.

If the case does survive, it could open the door to discovery, depositions, and potentially explosive new details about the private lives, inner workings, and crisis management strategies of one of Hollywood’s most famous couples.
For now, the case hangs in limbo — dismissed by some as baseless, watched by others as a ticking time bomb.
And if it doesn’t get thrown out?
More “juicy” revelations may be just around the corner.
