Retired NASCAR Driver Greg Biffle, Wife, and Two Children Killed in North Carolina Plane Crash
Retired NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, his wife Christina Biffle, and two children were killed in a plane crash in North Carolina on Thursday morning, according to a family representative.
Richard Hudson, a close family friend, confirmed the tragic news in a post on X, writing, “I am devastated by the loss of Greg, Christina, and their children, and my heart is with all who love them.”

Authorities say Greg Biffle was on board the aircraft with his wife Christina, their 5-year-old son Ryder, and his 14-year-old daughter Emma, whom he shared with his ex-wife, Nicole Lunders.
In a moving tribute, Hudson described the family as deeply committed to helping others. “Greg was a great NASCAR champion who thrilled millions of fans, but he was also an extraordinary human being,” Hudson wrote. “He will be remembered as much for his service to others as for his fearlessness on the track.”
Hudson also highlighted the Biffles’ humanitarian efforts, noting that they flew hundreds of rescue missions in western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene. Just weeks before the crash, Christina had reportedly reached out to ask how she could assist with relief efforts in Jamaica.
Hours after the crash, North Carolina officials held a press conference confirming that seven people were killed. First Sergeant Chris Knox of the North Carolina Highway Patrol stated that while all occupants were confirmed deceased, the identities could not yet be officially released due to a post-crash fire. However, Greg Biffle was believed to be among those killed based on flight records and eyewitness information.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) responded to the scene, and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is expected to take over the investigation.
North Carolina Governor Josh Stein expressed his condolences, calling the incident “heartbreaking,” and emphasized that local, state, and federal authorities are working together to determine the cause of the crash.
Greg Biffle was one of NASCAR’s most accomplished drivers, earning multiple championships during his career. In 2023, he was named one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers.
