What Taylor Swift Really Thought About Her Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy Breakups During the Eras Tour

Taylor Swift has opened up about the emotional challenges she faced during the early stages of her record-breaking Eras Tour, including the end of her long-term relationship with actor Joe Alwyn and her brief, highly publicized romance with The 1975 frontman Matty Healy.

Reflecting on that period, Swift admitted that there were moments when the tour itself became her emotional lifeline.

“There were points in this tour when it was the only thing that was really keeping me going,” she said. “But there was never a moment when I wanted to quit because the tour was hard. My personal life was hard.”

During the first half of the tour, Swift went through two breakups—ending her more than six-year relationship with Alwyn, followed by her rocky split from Healy.

“I went through two breakups in the first half of this tour,” she shared. “That’s a lot of breakups, actually.”

Despite the emotional turmoil, Swift ultimately found happiness again. She is now engaged to NFL star Travis Kelce, and she and her mother, Andrea Swift, recently reflected on how their love story began.

Andrea revealed that Kelce initially tried to give Taylor a friendship bracelet after attending an Eras Tour concert but wasn’t able to meet her.

“He was a little hurt that he didn’t get to give her one of the bracelets he made,” Andrea recalled. Curious, she reached out to her cousin, a Kansas City Chiefs superfan, to learn more about him.

“She said, ‘Oh my God, he’s the nicest guy—and he really loves his mom,’” Andrea said. “And I thought, ‘Ding, ding, ding.’”

Taylor admitted she was initially hesitant, joking that she wasn’t exactly “athlete-adjacent” and wasn’t sure what they would even talk about. But things quickly changed once they connected.

Ultimately, Swift says their relationship is built on mutual support and encouragement.

“It’s the way he treats me,” she said. “If you had ever told me that the most meaningful relationship of my life would start with a man saying he was upset that he didn’t get to meet me, I would have never believed you.”
