Jason Kelce says he’s ‘not proud’ after slamming phone in viral video
Retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce spoke out Monday after a video of him slamming someone’s cell phone went viral over the weekend.
The video, which was posted to X on Saturday afternoon, showed Jason Kelce being heckled by a person who was heard calling his younger brother Travis Kelce a homophobic slur over his relationship with Taylor Swift. Jason Kelce then grabbed the heckler’s phone and slammed it to the ground before picking it up and taking it with him.
In another video, the man demanded Jason Kelce give him the phone back, to which Kelce responded using the same homophobic slur.
“I’m not happy with anything that took place. I’m not proud of it,” Kelce said during “Monday Night Countdown” on ESPN. “In a heated moment, I chose to greet hate with hate, and I just don’t think that’s a productive thing. I don’t think that it leads to discourse.”

The 36-year-old said that in that moment, he fell to a level that he shouldn’t have.
“I tried to live my life by the golden rule. That’s what I’ve always been taught. I try to treat people with common decency and respect and I’m going to keep doing that moving forward, even though I fell short this week. I’m going to do that moving forward.”
The phone-smashing incident happened Saturday in Pennsylvania after a game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Cam Newton apologizes for role in mass brawl and admits violence ‘could’ve been worse’
Eleven-year NFL veteran Cam Newton addressed his role in a brawl caught on camera during his recent youth football tournament where he appeared to be jumped by a onslaught of opposing coaches
(
Cam Newton has apologized for his involvement in the viral 7v7 youth football brawl that occurred at his even. He said he’s thankful that nobody got seriously hurt in the process.
“To every single high school player, person of influence, and every single athlete, use my situation as a way to understand that in one moment, with one decision, your life can change,” said the former NFL quarterback. “I let my emotions get the best of me, and it should not have been called for. With that, I apologize to anybody affected. That’s Steph, TJ, their organization, C1N, my players, parents, and my staff members.”
Steph and TJ Brown, to whom Newton apologized, serve as coaches for the Top Shelf Performance [TSP] team. Newton was previously associated with TSP before establishing his own team, C1N Red.
They have provided their account of the situation to the media, alleging that Newton engaged in behavior such as referring to himself as their “daddy,” flaunting his financial status and making personal remarks in an effort to incite a reaction. They spoke to Fox, saying: “Cam jumps out of his car and yells, ‘Hey, all that sorry s*** ain’t gonna work today. What [are] we betting today? What we betting?'”
TJ continued: “I’m like, ‘I ain’t betting you, bro. I already beat you three, four times. You got to beat me first.’ He like, ‘What we betting? I got plenty of money. I ain’t ever running out of money.’ That’s when I told him, ‘That’s your problem. All you care about is money. You think money is everything. You can’t buy me.’ And I walk off.”
Newton revealed that the President of his program called him after the incident and expressed empathy while also stressing that public fighting cannot be tolerated in the future. Newton emphasized the impact on the livelihoods of those associated with him and the disappointment it could cause to children who look up to him.
The altercation captured on camera depicted a confrontation between Newton and the TSP coaches, resulting in punches being directed towards him. An unidentified individual attempted to leap onto Newton’s back, prompting the former Panthers QB to react in self-defense.
As the tension escalated, another person in a white shirt threw a punch at someone in the crowd, triggering a chain reaction of physical altercations as others attempted to intervene and defuse the situation. Newton found himself needing to protect himself against three additional assailants. He swiftly grabbed one individual by their backpack, sending them tumbling across the cement.
Newton seized another person by their hoodie and moved them out of harm’s way. He then pushed away two more individuals as security personnel hurried to intervene and bring an end to the altercation. The quaterback remained quiet about the incident in the immediate aftermath, refraining to post on social media until five days after it occured.
