BREAKING: U.S. Former First Lady Hillary Clinton Dies at 77 After Brief Illness
August 6, 2025 — Washington D.C.

In a deeply emotional announcement that has left the nation in mourning, the Clinton family has confirmed the passing of former U.S. First Lady, Secretary of State, and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton at the age of 77.
According to a statement released by the family early this morning, Clinton died peacefully at her home in Chappaqua, New York, following complications from a short-term respiratory illness. She was surrounded by her husband, former President Bill Clinton, daughter Chelsea, and close family members.
> “Hillary lived her life with unmatched strength, purpose, and commitment to service,” the statement read. “She was a mother, grandmother, public servant, and tireless advocate for justice. Her absence will be felt deeply — not only by those who knew her, but by millions of women and girls around the world she inspired.”
Hillary Clinton first entered the national spotlight as First Lady during her husband’s presidency from 1993 to 2001, but she quickly forged her own legacy. As a U.S. Senator representing New York from 2001 to 2009, and later as Secretary of State under President Obama from 2009 to 2013, she became a powerful figure in American politics.
She made history in 2016 as the first woman to secure a major party’s nomination for President of the United States. Though she narrowly lost the election, her campaign was seen as a turning point for women in American leadership.
Tributes have already begun pouring in from across the political spectrum. President Joe Biden called Clinton “a trailblazer, a patriot, and a personal friend,” while former President Barack Obama said she was “one of the most resilient and brilliant leaders this country has ever known.”
Flags across federal buildings have been ordered to fly at half-staff in her honor. A national memorial service is expected to be held later this week at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
