Angel Reese’s new head coach Tyler Marsh had an emotional response to the Las Vegas Aces’ tribute to the assistant coach and head of player development. Marsh replaced Teresa Weatherspoon to head the Chicago Sky outfit for the upcoming season inking a multi-year deal.
The team announced the move on Sunday and the Aces released a tribute video soon after thanking their former assistant coach for his vital contributions.

“No, thank YOU”- Angel Reese and Sky’s new HC Tyler Marsh emotionally reacts to Aces’ tribute
In response to the video that features snippets from his time in Las Vegas and head coach Becky Hammon lavishing praise, Marsh tweeted on X (formerly Twitter)
“Mann… No, thank YOU@ Love & appreciate you all.”

Marsh will head a potential-filled unit with Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, two first-round picks from the 2024 WNBA Draft. After last winning the title in 2021, the franchise fired Weatherspoon in September. The team endured a tough season, finishing 13-27 and missing the playoffs. With Chicago having a slew of free agents for 2025, including guard Chennedy Carter, there’s a possibility that they will look to construct the roster around two vital centerpieces in Reese and Cardoso.
The now-Sky HC joined the Aces staff upon Becky Hammon’s hire in 2022, helping guide the side to consecutive WNBA championships in 2022 and 2023. They ended this season by making the playoffs but went down in the semifinals to the New York Liberty.
Angel Reese had a simple response to the Sky hiring Tyler Marsh
Angel Reese, who had earlier stated that he couldn’t envision playing for the Sky without Weatherspoon, welcomed the franchise’s move to hire Tyler Marsh with a simple response that later stirred a banter with Aces’ stars Alysha Clark and Sydney Colson.
Reese took to X to just write ‘W’ seemingly confirming that hiring a championship-winning coach was a win for the side already. WNBA fans weighed in as well believing that Marsh could elevate Reese’s game while also ensuring that the Sky could make massive strides and cement themselves as playoff contenders.
The forward had a stellar rookie season averaging 13.6 points on 39.1 percent shooting, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 34 games. She missed the final skirmishes with a season-ending wrist injury.
Her absence dented the Sky’s rebounding and with unfortunate injuries to Cardoso and Carter, Chicago stumbled towards the fag end of the regular season failing to make the playoffs. It will be interesting to see the dynamic Angel Reese will form with Marsh this upcoming season.
