Cheryl Reeve Sends One-Word Message on Caitlin Clark’s Team USA Snub.
When Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark was left off USA Basketball’s Paris Olympics roster, many felt it was a major snub. Those feelings have only intensified as Clark’s historic rookie campaign has continued, as the Fever guard is breaking WNBA records on a nightly basis.
Team USA head coach Cheryl Reeve has made interesting comments on Clark that have led some to believe she was behind the controversial decision to leave the star rookie off this roster. While those behind the scenes decisions are not public, Reeve did address whether or not she has second-guessed leaving Clark off the roster.
“No,” Reeve answered in one word.
Clark enters the WNBA All-Star break averaging 17.1 PPG, 8.2 APG, and 5.8 RPG. Leading the league in both total assists and assists per game, Clark broke the WNBA’s single game record with 19 assists in Indiana’s loss to the Dallas Wings entering the break.
This level of playmaking from Clark has many intrigued by what she could do surrounded by Team USA stars, but is something that will have to wait for the next Olympics.
While Clark did not make the Team USA roster, she has already received several honors in her rookie season, including an All-Star nod. In Phoenix for the All-Star Game, Clark will compete against team USA in a unique setup that will showcase the WNBA’s brightest stars.
This game projects to be more competitive than other All-Star Game matchups, as Clark and her team will look to defeat Team USA.
