NBC’s The Voice eliminated a number of aspiring singers Tuesday. By night’s end, four contestants were left standing: Jordan Smith, Emily Ann Roberts, Barrett Baber and Jeffery Austin. Of the five contestants who were eliminated, one cut seemed to ruffle feathers, judging by fans’ reaction on Twitter: Madi Davis. The 16-year-old Texas native was eliminated after performing a rendition of Crowded House’s “Don’t Dream It’s Over.”
Before the show aired, Davis tweeted a hope-filled mantra: “Win, lose or draw,” Davis wrote. “This has been amazing.”

In The Voice, each of the four judges — Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams and Blake Shelton — compete with each other as the singers vie for first place as the judges claim and coach the singers as part of their teams. Davis was on Williams’ team, and when she was eliminated, he voiced his support on Twitter.
Keep sharing your talent with the world @MadiAnneDavis
Davis’ fans replied to Williams in droves in a show of solidarity:
@1SHeRA1 @Pharrell @MadiAnneDavis Madi is still my favorite. I’ll be following her career.
@Pharrell @MadiAnneDavis you deserved to be in the finale!! You have a beautiful gift to share with the world!! Keep shining girl!!
@Pharrell @MadiAnneDavis Please get this girl signed somewhere! I need more of her in my life.
@Pharrell @MadiAnneDavis Never give up! You have an amazing voice and it needs to be shared with the world! Can’t wait to hear you again!
@Pharrell @MadiAnneDavis Madi should have been in the finale. She is a star.
Davis also publicly thanked Williams on Twitter. Users on the social platform rallied to weigh in with supportive words.
@MadiAnneDavis @Pharrell I hope you produce her, Pharrell!!
@MadiAnneDavis you deserve to be in the finals! keep your music and the hat alive, please!
@MadiAnneDavis @Pharrell I agree, I just can’t wait to hear any material you put out! I love you!!!
@MadiAnneDavis I am a huge Voice fan but very disappointed. You should be in the finale. You are so talented and beautiful. KEEP SINGING!
@MadiAnneDavis The fact that you’re not in the finale is a travesty, but the fact that you’re gonna be a huge star keeps me smiling. 🙂
One thing is clear: Davis has wracked up a devoted bunch of fans during her time on The Voice for her vocals, which carried her to the semi-finals. After her performance of “Love is Blindness” by U2 in November, New York Daily News‘ Scott Chiusano wrote, “Madi once again crushed this difficult song and proved why she deserves to be one of the last artists standing onstage when all is said and done.”
With a dedicated fan base and a friend/mentor like Williams, Davis is well-positioned to remain in the public eye. While we wait for Davis to make her next move, fans can head to iTunes to download her recordings from the season.
